Fasting

I've experimented with various fasting regimens.  Here is me after one of them at about 180 lbs. 
This was after working out in the gym at a college campus, thus there are many young males to compete with to boost your testosterone and motivation.  Here's how I did it:

How I used fast and gorge for rapid weight loss:

Disclaimer:  This approach is a cheat for rapid weight-loss.  I do not believe Fast and Gorge it to be the healthiest approach.

I had decided to lose up to 20 lbs.  I possibly weighed about 200 lbs (6 ft, age 30) with significant muscle mass and decided to get down to about 180 lbs, largely in order to date younger women.  If one must have a reason, let it be convincing even when you are home alone talking to no one but yourself.  If I were out in public, I may have said I was doing this to live 2 years longer when I'm 78, but would have found while at home staring down a tub of cookies-n-cream that I don't give a damn about that.  There was a campus full of college girls and that was plenty of motivation.  I also had several painful conditions:  Fibromyalgia, POTS, fatigue, sky high CRP without obvious cause, high bp and other conditions that I might call conditions of comfort, new world conditions, or conditions of modernity.  I'll find a more sensational term at some point.  Anyway, I discovered after a day of fasting most of these conditions were absent or greatly reduced.  To wake up virtually numb to pain was so foreign to me I thought I must be starving too much to be able to transmit nerve impulses, but I could still feel normal sensations.  I just couldn't feel pain from my chronic pain conditions.

Here's how I did it:
1.  Weigh and record upon waking on day 1.
2.  Fast the entire day by drinking only unsweetened coffee or tea, regular or decaf during the day and decaf after 6.  I keep nuts, grapefruit juice, small fruits and berries, and small fatty fish on hand to prevent blood sugar crashes.  Eating 500 to 700 calories will not break your fast, just be careful to avoid hidden calories.
3.  Day two, weigh and record in the morning.  If I have lost 1/2 lb or more, I choose a suitable time to go to an all-you-can-eat buffet.  It is advisable to eat only the healthy foods like lean meat, seafood, nuts, berries, fruit, and veggies.  I discovered however it still works and I even lost weight faster if I ate unhealthy foods like pizza, because they digest faster and cause greater stress to the body.  Again, it's not healthy to do things that way and such an approach can certainly bring on a heart attack, so be smarter and more disciplined than me.  Anyway, gorge yourself, and if you have self-control, gorge on healthy food.
4.  If I have not lost 1/2, I continue fasting by eating only about 500 calories on day two.  Fish and fruit are the best choices to prevent blood sugar crashes.  Then I gorge the next day.  Gorging consists of a single meal.  Once my metabolism gets used to this pattern, I can gorge everyday at dinnertime, because I consistently lose about 1 lb per day.
5.  Repeat.

The strange thing about this approach is that if you don't gorge, weight loss tends to stop or slow down, so the gorge isn't just caving in to temptation.  You won't lose the weight if you don't gorge.  I'm not certain why this works, I'm just certain that it works, for me at least.  Once I'm to the point where I'm losing a pound a day, there's no sense of dieting or fasting, rather it's just eating one large meal in the evening rather than several small meals per day.  The day after gorging, you tend to have lost more weight than the day after fasting.  Another strange effect, if you don't eat enough during the gorge, you tend not to lose the weight.  I imagine the gorge is a shock to the body and since it's done at one sitting, you will eat more than you can digest and use so much of it won't get stored and much of the energy will be used for digestion, so you end up with a high metabolism with a net energy loss.  That is the recipe for fat burning.

This diet is fit for my temperament.  I tend to be somewhat bipolar, so fasting and gorging is perfect for me for rapid weight loss.

Another tip, if you experience mood or thinking problems, just add natural sugar and creatine to your fasting tea or coffee.  You needn't add more than 150 (ten teaspoons per day) calories by sugaring your coffee or tea.
